Music Education Scholarship

The Music Education Scholarship is a private, personal monetary scholarship given by Musical Blessings teacher, Ms Sharon Kuhlman-Pua.

Ms Sharon values students who work hard to achieve their piano goals, and this scholarship is launched in conjunction with her most recent accomplishment of obtaining her Master of Education degree in July 2023.

She wants to encourage her students to follow her example in doing her best in their piano studies. Rather than only focusing on natural talent, Ms Sharon believes that every student has an opportunity to develop their musical skills, and strongly encourages students stretch their ability.

Throughout her career, Ms Sharon would give music lessons free-of-charge to less-privileged students, even during the COVID-19 partial lockdown in 2020. She wants now to extend her benefit to high achieving students who deserve encouragement and recognition.

As a start, the award for 2023-2024 will be based on these categories:

• Merit achievement: up to S$10 Popular Book Voucher
• Distinction achievement: up to S$30 Popular Book Voucher
• Good progress award

The pool for the award is S$100 and $240 for Merit and Distinction respectively.

The award is dynamic. New categories may be added or replace these in time as appropriate.

1. The scholarship is open to all students of Teacher Sharon (Musical Blessings).
2. The scholarship is awarded on a yearly basis and may be disbursed over a period of 12 months.
3. The Awardee must have been a student of Musical Blessings for the last 12 months.
4. The scholarship applies to exams taken by students with approval from Teacher Sharon.
5. The scholarship applies to achievement within 12 months of learning the grade.
6. Awardees must achieve an upgrade within a year. If no exam is taken, the student must achieve the expected score in an internal exam conducted by Musical Blessings.
7. Maximum one scholarship/award/bursary per year per grade.
8. This is a private scholarship; the decision to give the award lies solely with Teacher Sharon.
9. Full fees must be promptly paid at the beginning of each month for the scholarship to be meaningful and disbursed.
10. Musical Blessings reserves the right to withhold any part of the award for any criteria deemed unmet by the student.
